Scheduling and Training

To schedule a time to use the laser cutter, please review the reservations and fill out the form below. Please note: You will not be able to schedule time on a laser cutter until you have had training. IF you would like to  schedule training speak to one of our technicians or email Cutting is done between the hours of 8:30am and 3:00pm. There are times when lab assistants are available, that you may use the laser cutter on a first come first served basis. You can expect at least one day of processing time prior to the commencement of cutting. The cutter is operated on a first come, first serve basis.

The laser cutter uses Adobe Illustrator  files for cutting. The file should consist only of lines along which the laser cutter would cut or engrave. The file extension type should be .ai.  Vector files saved as .pdfs may also be used.

The laser can cut up to 1/2" thick material, and can also be used to engrave on the following materials: wood, paper, carboard, polyfilm, acrylic, leather, melamine. It CANNOT cut metal, glass or crystal. We have a limited availability of a variety of materials, including acrylic, balsa wood, and lucite that you can use.  If you are unsure whether your material can be cut, talk to Carlos Amaro.

There is no cost to use the laser cutters for OEDK registered design teams.
