Detection of unmanned, autonomous surface vessels
Design Challenge
Since at least 2018, Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCO’s) have used Unmanned Autonomous Surface Vessels (UASVs) to smuggle illegal narcotics across the Maritime Boundary Line (MBL) between Mexico and
the Southern California Coastline. In order to stop this form of smuggling, we will research and design a method to mimic and detect maritime smuggling capsules for use in white-hat exercises by the United States Coast Guard.
